Agricultural Society Fees
              
Due on or before December 31st, 2020    

The OAAS Board has approved that the fee will be 75% of the 2019 membership fees that each Agricultural Society paid – only if the membership fees are paid by December 31, 2020 - otherwise the fee will be the same as last year.

In the past, you have had the option to pay by cheque, credit card or through Assist Expo via credit card. 

This year, we are asking that you pay by cheque, credit card or e-transfer - there will be no Assist Expo option available this year for paying your fees.

Please complete the following invoice (link below) and return it to the OAAS Manager at the address below with your choice of payment method. We suggest you make a copy of the invoice for your records.

News November 9, 2020

  • The Ontario government is investing $5 million to help offset revenue losses for eligible agricultural and horticultural societies impacted by the necessary cancellation of fall fairs and exhibits during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. this funding was announced as part of the 2020 Ontario Budget, Ontario's Action Plan: Protect, Support, Recover. More details to follow.

 

We recognize that it has been a difficult year for fairs and the OAAS has worked hard to help agricultural societies cope and survive this year. Here are a few of the highlights 

  • The OAAS has requested funding from the government similar to what was given to the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario(TIAO) to cover membership fees for this year. If the OAAS does receive funding towards membership fees, we will refund part or all of your membership fees based upon the amount of funding we receive.

  • We have provided you with COVID-related emails, website posts and weekly webinars.

  • We lobbied the government to waive the requirements for the OMAFRA grant and they have agreed to provide the same “Agricultural Exhibition Grant” for 2021 that your Agricultural Society received in February 2020. Eligible Agricultural Societies should have or will be receiving this grant shortly to help cover some of your ongoing expenses rather than waiting until February 2021 for the payment. (If you haven’t received it, please email the OAAS office)

  • We lobbied the government to provide funding to help cover the shortfall that Ontario Agricultural Societies are experiencing this year due to the cancellation of their fairs, events, and rentals. We want to thank all the Agricultural Societies and their membership who participated in our letter-writing campaigns to your MPPs and other elected officials. I strongly believe that your participation was significant to the success of our funding request. The Ontario government announced in the November COVID budget that it is investing $5 million to help offset revenue losses for eligible agricultural and horticultural societies impacted by the necessary cancellation of fall fairs and exhibits during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. This funding was announced as part of the 2020 Ontario Budget, Ontario's Action Plan: Protect, Support, Recover. NOTE: This funding is in addition to the annual “Agricultural Exhibition Grant” for 2021 funding mentioned above. Please be patient – we will send out details as soon as we receive them.

  • We have also asked that the province ensure that provincial health requirements are consistent across the province as we emerge from the lockdown and prepare for next years’ events. We will continue to lobby the government about this. Watch for a seminar at our 2021 Convention about relaunching next year’s fairs and events.

  • The OAAS supplemented the cost for district Zoom accounts to enable continued support and communication within districts and Agricultural Societies.
